Ebay item 9/8/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-1967-Jaguar-420-wire-wheels-right-hand-drive_W0QQ ...
Current bid $2,125 reserve not met, 6 bids, 3 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar 420 is a rare car in the US it is a right hand drive!
Just imagine being a Mail carrier and having a Jaguar to deliver the mail in!!!

This car rus and drives good, it has a 4.2 liter 6 cylinder
engine in it with a 3 speed automatic transmission. The engine starts right up and runs great, the only issues I can find with it are, it does have an oil leak, and accelleration is a little sluggish at times. I believe that the carburators will need to be cleaned up a little to enhance wide open accelleration. The transmission works great and had been rebuilt in the past. One of the fuel pumps will need to be looked at, the car will only draw fuel from one of the tanks but this is a fairly easy job. I'm sure that the odometer has rolled over once.

The paint on this car is terrible. It looks ok from 20 ft or so but any closer reveals orange peel and well, it is just a bad paint job! There is some rust on the car, most everything that I can find is blisters in the paint down low in the doors, fenders, and rockers, probably not to hard to take care of. There is some rust down underneath the car in the rockers and down low in front only. I haven't found any farther under. That doesn't mean there isn't any I just have not located it. The chrome on the car is showing it's age, and there are a few little dings and such in it. There is a ding in the grill and the Jaguar emblem is missing. Not the leaper but the other one.

The interior of the car will need to be restored. The main problem is that it looks like someone has replaced the seats with another set from a 420 and they are blue, but the door panels are coffee colored! The seats will need to be redone anyway as the leather has started to get hard and some of the stitching is starting to come apart. The wood in the car is in good shape and the wood over the doors looks like it has been refinished recently. The dash pad in the car is in amazing shape.
There are no cracks in it!
It is beautiful! The guages work and everything seems to function as is should. With the exception of the clock. I don't know if the heat works as I have not tried to play with it, it has been very warm here.

The tires are decent on the car and the wire wheels are as well. There is some surface rust on the spokes and other parts but I have been very sucessful in cleaning them up with an SOS pad. (steel wool with a soap on it) I have not finished the job but they will look very good with some more time.

This is a great car, it runs and drives well and even shows well, people just seem to overlook it's cosmetic issues. It would be a great car to restore as you could restore it while you drive it! Drive it everyday, restore it whatever you do you will like this car!

It gets lots of look and comments when you are driving down the street, like Hey that guy is driving on the wrong side of the car!

I invite you to come view the car personally before you bid and experience it for yourself. It would be my pleasure to show it to you. A plane ticket is cheap when buying a car. Please come see it before you bid, or send someone to look at it.

Car returns to ebay 1/14/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-420-1967-VINTAGE-RIGHT-HAND-DRIVE-JAGUAR-420-WIRE ...
Current bid $2,247, no reserve 16 bids, 4 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Las Vegas.

Sellers description:
This Jag starts every time with no problem, fun to drive around town and rides great, it's quite a head turner! As you can see from the pictures, this car is not perfect and could use restoration. Paint looks good from 20 ft away, but upon closer examination is not the best paint job, and is bubbling some in spots. Leather seats do not match the interior but are original Jaguar. The interior wood dash and trim are beautiful but again, could use restoration to make perfect. All the guages seem to work fine, except for the clock.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
