Chassis No: PF33544DW

Colour: Opalescent Maroon
Jaguar 420 1967 taken in part for a motorcycle by the vendor in April for a classic motorcycle but it is not for him hence the sale. The car has had 4 previous owners and has it's original buff log book. The car starts on the button and drive very well, smooth and very powerful. The brakes are spot on as they are all new. The brake lines, flexibles, calliper, discs and pads have been replaced and the master cylinder has just been rebuilt, the system flushed through with new brake fluid. Since 2016 up to date the car has received an extensive amount of work all carried out by Butlin and Sons classic cars of Swadlincote, Derbyshire. The money spent is in excess of £15.000.00 including body work, chassis work, suspension, steering, over drive, engine, including cam shafts and chains, wiring loom, stainless steel exhaust system the list is extensive but well worth the read. All receipts included. The body work is very straight without dents although there are some paint blemishes. Interior is very nice indeed but the dash needs a re-varnish.
Main niggles are the brake warning light flickers on and off, fault ID to reservoir sensor and the ignition light remains dimly on although a check shows the alternator s charging perfectly, I suspect an earth wire is the guilty party. All keys and locks work including the fuel caps. Full Jaguar tool kit in the boot with the spare wheel and jack. Wheel is colour coded to the rest. Very clean and presentable under the bonnet. Polished cam covers.

Lot Number 10010
Registration Number LFL663F
Chassis Number PF3544DW
Engine Number 7F54728
Transmission Manual
Body Colour MAROON
This 420 – one of just 33 survivors from 1967 still on the road – presents well in its elegant Opalescent Maroon, with only a few imperfections and light bubbling, belying its 57 years. The interior is beige leather, with no cracks and with a patina which suggests it is the original trim. The brightwork is also in good condition, with some tarnishing and imperfections but remaining entirely presentable, for a car of this age.
The vendor states that the car drives extremely well, with tight and direct steering, a smooth clutch and gearbox and responsive engine and brakes, all adding up to a fine, entertaining performer with no overheating issues and always holds the correct pressure.
This Jaguar’s five owners have contributed to a wonderful paperwork file, with V5s and logbooks going right back to the original green Registration Book. It comes with a comprehensive collection of invoices from marque specialists, detailing works carried out to date, with circa £17,000 spent with the same owner between 2016 and 2021 and it has had an engine rebuild, with everything attended to including the SUs, camshaft, brakes, stainless steel exhaust, electric choke and much more.
