After specifically searching for a gray-on-gray RHD Mark IX with a manual gearbox and overdrive, this car was found advertised in Hemmings Motor News. The car was purchased from the previous owner in New Jersey and driven straight down to Texas. It served as a daily driver for several years before being sidelined with minor mechanical problems. It is now in enclosed storage awaiting its eventual "re-birth."

    2020-09-25 09:59:21 | Jay Weber writes:

After 30 years in storage, the Mark IX was transported to the restoration shop in August 2020. The goal is to create a safe, reliable, good-looking daily driver... not a concours queen. Planned modifications include adding A/C, along with upgrades to the cooling system, electrical system, exhaust system, and upgraded brakes. Seat belts will be added; unbelievably, this car never had them!

The car is now back "home" in Round Rock, Texas, in drivable but ratty condition. Body, paint, and interior work will be next on the agenda, with plans to drive it as much as possible. Since the car has no A/C, that may be the limiting factor in Texas.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
