This 1963 Jaguar Mk II was purchased by the current owner in 2012 and subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment that was completed in 2015. Finished in two-tone black and silver over white leather upholstery with black piping, the car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The vehicle has been modified with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, rear coil springs, Wilwood front disc brakes, an aluminum radiator, a Falcon stainless-steel exhaust system, a trunk-mounted Vintage Air climate-control system, a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Nakamichi CD stereo, and blue LED gauge backlighting. Other equipment includes dual SU carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, front bucket seats, and rear tray tables. This Mk II is now offered in California by CompassRacing—a BaT Local Partner—on behalf of the owner with refurbishment records and photos, manufacturer’s literature, and an Idaho title in the owner’s name.

Approximately 150 pages of service records spanning between 2011 and 2015 are along with several photos from the refurbishment included.

The car was stripped and repainted in two-tone black and silver during the aforementioned refurbishment, when the chrome parts were replated and the weatherstripping was replaced. Equipment includes a Leaper hood ornament, a pop-up cowl vent, door-mounted side mirrors, rear wheel spats, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome wraparound bumpers with overriders as well as a chrome grille, window surrounds, and trim.

Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels wear knock-off spinners and are mounted with 185R15 Universal Sport red-line tires. The car has been converted to utilize rack-and-pinion steering and rear coil springs. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs, which have been updated with Wilwood components at the front. The power-steering pump was rebuilt in 2017.

The cockpit was reupholstered during the refurbishment in off-white leather with black piping using materials supplied by BAS Jaguar Trim. Burl walnut veneers adorn the dashboard, door caps, and window frames. A Nakamichi CD stereo has been installed in the center stack. Rear passengers are provided with tray tables and a fold-down center armrest.

The Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level as well as a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership. The instrumentation was refurbished in 2013, chrome bezels were fitted, and blue LED backlighting was adapted.

The components for the Vintage Air climate-control system are housed in the trunk compartment behind a removable bulkhead.

The 3.8-liter XK inline-six was rebuilt by in 2012 Vintage Jag Works of Blackfoot, Idaho. An aluminum radiator was installed concurrent with the engine rebuild, and the fuel tank and fuel pump were replaced. A Falcon stainless-steel dual exhaust system was fitted in 2015. The dual SU carburetors were rebuilt in 2022.

A receipt for the engine rebuild is shown above.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Idaho title is noted to be a duplicate document.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
