This 1966 Jaguar S-Type 3.8 is a left-hand-drive example that is noted to have been initially delivered in the Ryukyu Islands of Japan and later acquired by US Navy scientist Waldo K. Lyon. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2001, and the interior was subsequently re-trimmed in green. Power is provided by a 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and the car rides on 15″ wire wheels and an independent suspension. A Leaper hood ornament, driving lights, and chrome-finished wraparound bumpers are fitted on the outside, while the cabin houses bench seating, a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, a heater, and a Kenwood cassette stereo. This S-Type 3.8 is offered on dealer consignment with a spare manual transmission, service records and manuals, a car cover, and an Indiana title.

This green example received paintwork in 2003, and details include a Leaper hood ornament, driving lights, clear front turn signal lenses, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome-finished trim and wraparound bumpers with overriders.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs, and they were mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in 2023 according to the selling dealer. The independent suspension utilizes wishbones and an anti-roll bar up front along with dual dampers and coil springs out back. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with Wilwood front calipers and inboard-mounted rear rotors. A lower ball joint and the upper control arm bushings were replaced in 2023.

The cabin was refreshed with green upholstery and color-coordinated carpeting as well as replacement A-pillar trim and windlace in 2001, and the rear bench seat was repaired in 2004. Fold-down center armrests, three-point front seat belts, a heater, and a Kenwood cassette stereo are additional elements.

The Nardi steering wheel features a wood rim. The wood veneer dashboard is equipped with a parcel shelf, a retractable tray table, and instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles. The speedometer was serviced in 2002.

The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is fed by twin SU carburetors and features an alloy head with hemispherical combustion chambers. The engine was rebuilt under current ownership.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit, and a Borg & Beck clutch kit was added under current ownership.

A write-up provided by the owner notes the car was previously owned by US Navy scientist Waldo K. Lyon and his son, Russell Lyon, who founded Lyon Motor Works.

A spare four-speed manual transmission with overdrive is included in the sale along with the removed steering wheel, spare parts, service manuals, a parts catalog, a tool kit, and a binder of service records and other documentation.

The Indiana title lists an Odometer Brand of Actual.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
