Auction description:
Artcurial Jean-Pierre Nylin Collection
Vernon, France, 28 September, 2025
1947 Jaguar MK IV 3.5 L Drophead Coupe
Estimate: €40,000 - 60,000
Sold : €30,100
French title
Chassis No 610808
- Desirable 3.5 L version
- Interesting restoration project
- Elegant “Mylord” cabriolet
This Jaguar was one of Jean-Pierre Nylin’s favourites, who expressed his appreciation for its smooth performance and comfort. He acquired it at an auction in Paris in October 1998. This is a desirable Drophead Coupe version, which included three convertible top positions. It is also fitted with the most powerful engine in the range: the 125 hp 3.5L engine linked to a manual gearbox. In the hands of a Parisian collector since 1989, it had a restoration carried out in 1990. Now with a mileage of 6,141 miles on the clock (in comparison to 6,130 miles in 2016), the old restoration work would be worth revisiting today. It’s also worth mentioning that the serial number on the manufacturer’s plate and registration documents corresponded to a saloon car from 1947; however, the bodywork number seems to match correctly with a convertible version. The tool kit in the boot is partially complete but it does include the square key, a mallet, a hand pump and a spark plug wrench. This elegant convertible deserves a full overhaul and service, as well as some well-deserved attention – fitting for such a sophisticated, luxurious and powerful convertible car.
