Timeless Old English white with red leather interior
A great candidate as either a starter or seasoned classic
Offered here is a particularly charming and highly original 240 model, finished in timeless Old English White with beautifully contrasting red leather upholstery. Remarkably, it has had just two owners from new, the most recent custodian having cherished the Jaguar since 1993. Such long-term ownership is often the hallmark of a genuinely cared-for example, and this handsome saloon presents exactly as one would hope and displays a very credible 91,700 miles.
Now some 58 years old, it retains a wonderfully authentic character. The paintwork is believed to be largely original and still displays an appealing patina consistent with careful use and sympathetic storage over many decades. Inevitably, there are signs of age in places, including some light corrosion to the offside rear wheel spat, lower outer sill and inner arches, along with a handful of small paint bubbles. Importantly, however, none detract from the overall charm or solid, honest presentation. The chrome brightwork, including the wire wheels, present exceptionally well with no obvious issues at all.
Inside, the cabin is every bit the classic Jaguar experience - a rich blend of polished walnut veneers, gleaming brightwork and sumptuous red leather seating. The interior remains beautifully preserved with only minimal age-related wear evident, reflecting years of considerate ownership and careful maintenance. It is a wonderfully inviting environment and a reminder of why these remain so admired today.
Mechanically, the Jaguar performs well and offers the smooth, relaxed driving experience for which the Mark 2 is renowned. It is accompanied by its original maintenance manual, although much of the historical servicing paperwork has sadly been lost over time. Nevertheless, the overall condition and presentation of this delightful example speak eloquently of a life spent in careful hands and proper storage. A charming, usable and increasingly collectible British sporting saloon.
