Car offered at:

www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1964-jaguar-s-type-38-mod-nrKod4

Seller's description:

Attractive factory-correct Opalescent Silver Grey over red leather

Desirable S-Type with 3.8L engine and manual box with overdrive

Only 2 former registered keepers

Supplied with Jaguar Heritage Certificate

Registered in Germany and holds current German TUV

900 Euros spent on replacement carpets.

Replacement stainless steel exhaust.

The Appeal

There’s a good reason why London’s bank robbers chose S-Types for their getaway. Equipped with independent suspension from its two seater cousin, these quick, agile saloons really were the four door E-Type.

This car’s Opalescent Silver Grey over burgundy leather is one of the most desirable combinations. It is a finely presented car that was factory fitted with the 3.8L XK straight six mated to the desirable 4spd manual box with overdrive.

The vendor tells us that this car has had only two previous keepers. We’re told that the underside has been ice blasted and protected and the car is otherwise ‘rust free.’ It is fitted with a new VA exhaust system and was recently serviced. Other notable work includes attention to the carburettors and valves.

With German registration and current TUV, this is a very usable example of perhaps one of Jaguar’s best 60s saloons.

First registered in July 1964

JDHT certificate shown in photos

VIN number 1B75900DN

Certificate confirms current colour scheme

Originally supplied to France

Vendor states car has only 2 former registered keepers

Vendor states that new TÜV will be provided on purchase

H-registration (historic vehicle status) will be provided upon purchase

The Condition

Finished in factory-correct Opalescent Silver Grey which presents well in photos

Bodywork is also in good order with flush door fit as shown

Underside as shown with evidence of ice blasting and protective undersealing

Vendor describes the bodywork as structurally sound and free from rust

Chrome work appears in very good condition

Sits on chrome wire wheels with spare included we are told

Red leather interior in very good order with some light wear typical of age

Dashboard, door cards, headlining and switchgear in good order for age

The Mechanics

3,800cc XK straight-six engine

4-speed manual transmission with overdrive

Stainless steel exhaust system recently fitted

All oils recently changed

Carburettor and valves recently adjusted

The vendor describes the engine as powerful

Car will be sold with new TUV prior to sale

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
