Ebay item 12/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-Mark-II-3-4-Mark-II-Jaguar-1962_W0QQitemZ19006626 ...
Opening bid $19,000, no reserve, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. 63k miles.

Sellers description:
Surely one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Lovingly restored in dark metallic blue and silver. This car has had extensive restoration.

Interior - original seats have been restored, no tears, soft and subtle leather. The carpets have been replaced with original Wilton wool. All the woodwork inside has been restored to a soft and not a garish shine. All the veneer is perfect. Also, new headlining. Air conditioning has been discretely fitted.

Exterior - the exterior has been re-sprayed and really makes the car look remarkable. No body work was performed on the car as this was a rust-free example with no imperfections. The original wheels have been treated. The parts of the chrome have been replated and it all shows well.

Engine - The engine having been sat for 30 odd years was completely rebuilt. The exhaust was also replaced. The radiator and fuel tank were restored. This car is very original and the numbers match.

Car No. 178031DN
Body No. E052420
Engine No. KH4628-8
Gearbox No. GBN6194JS (note the J could be a 2)

There is some original documentation which will support that the car's mileage should be as stated.

The car drives well, the only modifications to the original car are firstly the color, which was originally gold but the car has been completely painted inside and out so that is not seen. The air conditioning has been fitted, as we live in Florida and it's not a comfortable car to drive with a/c, but that is very much in keeping as you will see in the photos, and does not in anyway detract from the car, with the exception that the battery had to be moved to the trunk. One other thing, the tires are slightly bigger than the originals and also radial, but as the wheels are original, should you wish to put the original tires back on the car that would be easy to do.

Car returns to ebay 4/22/08

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-Mark-2-Mark-II-3-4-Recent-Restoration_W0QQitemZ25 ...

Current bid $3,050 reserve not met, 3 bids, 4 days left in auction. Car now located in Tucson, Arizona.

Sellers description:

Interior - Original seats have been restored, no tears, soft, supple leather. The carpets have been replaced with original Wilton wool. All the woodwork has been restored to a soft, not garish, finish, new headlining. Brand new air conditioning has been discreetly fitted with the battery moved to the trunk to accomodate the AC.

Exterior - Complete refinish in Silver over Dark Blue metallic. . .this combination makes the vehicle look remarkable! She was originally Gold and I have pictures taken before the restoration began. No body work was performed as this car was rust-free with no imperfections. The original wheels have been treated. The chrome was replated where necessary and it all shows well.

Engine - The engine, having sat for 30 odd years in a garage in Maryland was completely rebuilt and now has less than 400 miles on it. The exhaust was replaced and the radiator and fuel tank restored. This car is very original and the matching numbers are:

Car No. 178031DN

Body No. E052420

Engine No. KH4628-8

Gearbox No. GBN6194JS (note: the J could be a 2)

There is some original documentation which will support the mileage as stated. Briefly, the car was purchased new and put into storage in Virginia upon the owners death in 1972. A neighbor purchased it from the widow in early 2005 and sold it to an English gentleman in Florida in June, 2005 just as he purchased it. The restoration work was done by him over the next 18 months and I purchased it in early 2007 and trailered it to Tucson, had some additional work done and have garaged it until now. The car drives well; the only modifications being the exterior color and the fitting of the A/C unit which was needed both if FL and AZ.

Affectionally known as "Edward", this MK II 4.3 was purchased new by Dr. Ben Calloway Jones lll in Germany from Jaguar distributor Peter Lindner and was issued German license plate number G-4955. Dr. Calloway brought his Jaguar back to the United States where he used the car in Virginia and Washington D.C. before moving to Austin, Texas. In May 1972 the car was placed in storage after being driven 61,406 miles. It remained in storage for over three decades before it was acquired by a collector in 2004 in Florida who began restoring it. In 2007 it was purchased by California collector who finished the restoration and subsequently sold it to its current owner who has maintained and enjoyed this classic Jaguar to this day. The current owner has upgraded the car with a rack and pinion power steering conversion, new suspension and Spax shock absorbers.

Finished strikingly in Royal Blue and Silver paint, this rare machine features driving lights and chrome Dayton wire wheels wrapped with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires to create an elegant and sporting look. The restored interior looks just as a proper vintage Jaguar should, replete with sumptuous upholstery, burled wood dash and trim, Smiths gauges, RetroAir air conditioning, upgraded modern retro-style radio with Bluetooth and a beautiful Derrington wood-rimmed steering wheel.
