Sellers description:
The matching numbers Jaguar Mark 1 presented here, VIN *S992834DN* is one of those rare birds.
Assembled at the Brown's Lane plant in 1959, this well-equipped LHD example has been in California for decades and comes with a large, neatly kept three-ring binder containing a plethora of books and records, including the original owner's manual, facsimiles of works brochures and manuals, old registrations, and numerous receipts for parts and maintenance going back all the way to 1988, totalling $6,127.91. below the bonnet lives the original, ultra-desirable 3.4 litre engine. This one's backed by the -- even more desirable -- 4-speed manual transmission with floor shift and electric overdrive. Engine #*KF7904-8* is the matching numbers engine, as stamped on the factory data plate in the engine compartment and on the cylinder head. It looks bone stock, with its original SU carburetors and air cleaner, is surprisingly quiet and always runs cool, even during rush hour on SoCal's freeways. Receipts for timing chain replacement and a full tune up accompany the car. The brakes have been rebuilt, too, and the cooling system has seen a bit of attention. Scrutinizing the car's nether regions, it becomes apparent that this amazing survivor has been spared the attack of the dreaded rust devil. It has never needed any panel replacement. Everything looks super honest and very dry, indeed, which comes as a big relief, as these early unibodies were not known to last very well at all in a damp climate. Having spent half its life in California's central valley has definitely helped a lot keeping the MK 1 nearly corrosion free. Gauges and switches; they all work. Apparently, Lucas, the Prince of Darkness, had a jolly good day when this ferocious feline was conceived. Leather is original and should be replaced to make the car perfect, same goes for the headliner.
