This 1959 Jaguar Mk I is a left-hand drive example that is finished in green over a green interior and is powered by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter straight-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include 15″ wire wheels, disc brakes, vinyl seating, and wood trim. The car reportedly spent approximately 38 years in storage before being acquired by the seller from the family of its original owner in 2009. Subsequent recommissioning included rebuilding the SU carburetors, installing an aluminum radiator and stainless steel exhaust, and refreshing the fuel, cooling, and brake systems. The car is said to run and drive, though the engine smokes and now requires rebuilding. This Mk I is now being offered as a project at no reserve with records from the 2009 work, spare parts, a tool kit, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in green and features a leaper hood ornament, fender-mounted side mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes that the front driver-side fender was repainted during previous ownership and describes evidence of body filler on that panel. A crease is noted in the driver-side rear door, and photos showing paint fading, cracks, and other blemishes are provided in the gallery.
Green-finished 15″ wire wheels wear chrome two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were installed in 2009. The four-wheel disc brakes were overhauled in 2009, and Fossway calipers have been fitted up front.
The front bucket and rear bench seats are trimmed in green leather, which shows tears and creasing throughout. Replacement carpets were installed in 2009, and the cabin features a wood dash and interior trim, a four-spoke steering wheel, a lockable glove box, and lap belts.
Centrally-mounted Smiths instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows just over 400 miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with twin SU carburetors that were rebuilt in 2009. An aluminum radiator and electronic ignition were installed at that time, and the cooling and fuel systems were also refurbished. The seller notes smoke on deceleration and states that the engine requires rebuilding.
Engine block stamping KE 9964-8 matches the number listed on the chassis plate shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
