Ebay item 3/12/07 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-MARK-1-3-4L-SALOON-1959-JAGUAR-MARK-1-3-4L-SALOON ...
Current bid $6,099 reserve not met, 7 bids, 5 days left in auction. Buy it now price $9,100.
Sellers description:
BROWNIE is a 1959 4 door 3.4L, 6 cylinder, 4 speed Jaguar Saloon. He is pretty enough to win first place in most British/European car shows, but he is not completely concours correct and is a nice driver. He will cruise at 75mph on the freeway and not overheat in the Arizona summer at 105 on city streets. He has a 4 speed that is not synchro into first gear. He has electric overdrive in 3rd and 4th gear. The wire wheels are very nice with new radial tires including the spare which hasn't hit the ground. The paint is new, and the original color but is metalflake. The chrome is excellent, except for slight spots on the rear bumper overriders. The interior is excellent light brown nauga-leather and the carpets are good and clean. Owners manuals are included. The tape player/radio is funky but works and there is a selection of a dozen tapes that will take you back to 1959. The wood dash and door rails are excellent. Gauges all work except for the clock and speedo which bounces a bit. The 6 cylinder engine has good oil pressure and runs cool. See the picture taken at 500 rpm and the oil is about 50#. The engine bay is clean and polished. The original air cleaner and new window rubber gaskets and other parts are included. The tool kit is 95% complete. The car has new 4 wheel disc brakes. The front end has been completely rebuilt. This car has matching numbers for the engine/cylinder head to body production tag. In addition to the front end work, Brownie has a new starter, overdrive solenoid, fuel pump, and all brakes. All lights work. The mufflers give a throaty growl the way a Jag should sound. The door and body gaps are excellent and straight. The doors close solid like a Mercedes Benz.
Problems: 1. The speedo doesnt work and the mileage is not reliable. 2. The rear new tires are slightly too tall for the wheel wells and will rub if the car goes over bumps fast. This can be solved by careful driving over large bumps or installing a more narrow tire or larger rear shock absorbers. 3. The front windshield has a small scrape made by a failed wiper blade. It is not very noticable and I was told it could be buffed or waxed out. I have not been successful in this.
