Car to be at auction Nov. 2011
www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19292/lot/362/

Auction description:
Sale 19292 - Yorkshire Event Centre, Collectors' Motor Cars, Motorcycles and Automobilia, 16 Nov 2011
Harrogate, Great Yorkshire Showground
Lot No: 362
1959 Jaguar Mk1 2.4-Litre Saloon
Registration no. TAS 905
Chassis no. S915758
Engine no. BE2575-8

Estimate: £10,000 - 12,000, € 11,000 - 14,000

Dating from the final year of production and exported new to South Africa, this right-hand drive Jaguar Mk1 saloon returned to the UK in 1990 and was restored over the next couple of years, being re-sprayed and given a new interior. (The body and chassis have never had any remedial welding and are described by the vendor as in excellent condition). Other works carried out include a cylinder head overhaul, carburettor refurbishment (by Burlen Fuel Systems), radiator re-core, rewiring the electrics and fitting a stainless steel exhaust. Finished in white with Burgundy leather interior, this rare Jaguar Mk1 is offered with sundry restoration invoices, Jaguar Cars 'statement of build', Swansea V5 document and MoT to November 2012.

- Engine overhauled in 2014

- Offered with Heritage Certificate, invoices, old MOTs, etc.

The right-hand drive sale car vacated Jaguar's Browns Lane plant in 1959 and is thought to have spent its early life in South Africa, finally returning to these shores in 1990. The engine and carburettors were overhauled in 2014 and the vendor now classes the bodywork as 'excellent'; the six-cylinder engine, Ivory-coloured paintwork and Burgundy leather interior trim as 'very good'; and the four-speed manual transmission as 'good'; and says 'TAS 905' 'runs and drives very well'. The car's odometer currently registers an unwarranted 32,200 miles and the Jaguar is being sold complete with a history file containing various items of paperwork and old MOTs etc.
