Car to be at auction 7/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 133 - 1959 Jaguar Mk.1 Historic Race Car
Estimate: £17,000 - £22,000
Registration Number: TBA
Chassis Number: S915603BW

The Jaguar Mk.1 on offer today is a late model, built in 1959. Many years ago it was converted for competition use and became part of the respected collection of Jaguar racing enthusiast Peter Lloyd. Its subsequent custodianship has been exclusively retained within the historic Jaguar community, continually racing in the well respected and talented hands of Tony Bailey of Donnington Cars, Jaguar aficionado Richard Hackett and latterly under the good care of Tom Zwakman. Powered by an uprated 3.8 litre engine, prepared by leading historic Jaguar engine builder Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering, this noted Mk.1 has been meticulously prepared and maintained by leading Jaguar race specialists: namely Mk.1 guru Ken Bell, Racing Green Cars and latterly Zwakman Motors. Some £50,000 of invoices form the bulk of this capable car's history file, testifying that this car has needed for nothing. Sub-0.59 second laps around Brands Hatch confirm that this car is a front runner. Needless to say that the mechanical specification of this car is impressive: Sigma 3.8 race engine, c/r gearbox, LSD gearbox, uprated suspension and brakes are all well race proven. Recent race preparation work, carried out prior to sale by Moto-Build Racing, has included the revision of safety equipment in line with the current regulations.

With the added bonus of being road registered and MOT tested to June 2012, this proven Jaguar racer has full HSCC racing papers and is eligible for HSCC/HRSR, CSCC 'Swinging '60s, Heritage Historic Series, CTCRC Classic & Historic Touring Car Championship, offering a wealth of prime events. All this respected Jaguar Mk.1 now needs is a driver!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
