This 1958 Jaguar Mk VIII is a left-hand-drive example that has been registered to the current owner since 1983, and it is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car is stated to have been refinished in black and red under current ownership and features include 16″ steel wheels, a sunroof, rear wheel spats, and dual fender-mounted mirrors, while the black leather interior is equipped with reconditioned wood trim, a heater, folding rear picnic tables, and a push-button radio. The selling dealer states that the exhaust has been replaced in preparation for the sale. This Mk VIII is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a tool kit, and Connecticut registration in the owner’s name.
The car left the factory in black before being refinished in two-tone red and black in the 1980s. It features a sliding sunroof in addition to a ‘Leaper’ hood ornament, and additional exterior details include Lucas headlights and driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, rear wheel spats, chrome bumpers and overrriders, bright trim, and twin exhaust outlets. The rear bumper is dented and other blemishes are visible.
Black-finished 16″ steel wheels wear polished beauty rings and hubcaps and are mounted with 6.50” Coker Classic whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted drum brakes at all four corners, and the car is further equipped with power steering.
The cabin features front and rear benches upholstered in black leather with folding center armrests in addition to reconditioned wood trim throughout. Amenities include a heater, door storage pockets, a dashboard-mounted rear-view mirror, folding rear picnic tables, a rear analog clock, front lap belts, a fire extinguisher, and a push-button radio. The leather is cracked and other imperfections are visible.
A four-spoke steering wheel is fitted to a telescoping column and fronts centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, and supplemental gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles.
The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 210 horsepower. The car was also equipped from the factory with twin fuel tanks.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg Warner three-speed automatic transmission that is equipped with intermediate speed hold. The selling dealer reports that a stainless-steel exhaust was fitted in preparation for the sale.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows a date of manufacture of May 22, 1958, and lists the serial numbers, colors, and equipment along with the date of dispatch and ordering distributor. Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a tool kit are also included in the sale.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
