Sellers description:
What you are looking at here today is the culmination of many years of searching, planning and restoration of a very nice example of an early Jaguar Mark 2 saloon with matching numbers. Many people believe it is the most beautiful sedan ever made. I purchased this fine automobile from the California family of its original owner. I have the original sales invoice and the Heritage Certificate. It has just over 94K miles and I recently completed the ground-up restoration on a no-expense-spared basis. I chose this car to start with as it had such a gorgeous rust-free body. First the car was carefully dissembled and every part inventoried. Then the body was dipped in a hot acid bath, taking it down to shiny bare metal before being properly primed and professionally painted. Each piece of chrome is either new or rechromed, all wood has been refinished and a new interior (SNG Barratt) with insulation was installed. This car is also equipped with rare reclining front seats which make driving the car much more comfortable. All glass is original with no scratches, cracks or chips and was reinstalled correctly. I purchased new wire wheels and 205R15 tires. It also has a new SS exhaust system, new shocks and rear springs and a completely new wiring harness to alleviate any electrical gremlins. The engine was totally disassembled and rebuilt with new pistons (9:1), valves and valve springs in the head, bearings, and new gaskets and seals throughout. The head was rebuilt by a Jaguar marque expert. All instruments have been rebuilt and reinstalled and the braking system was completely redone which included rebuilding the master cylinder and all wheel cylinders. And I even installed brand new brake lines. The petrol tank was also completely refurbished and the water pump was rebuilt. During this comprehensive remanufacture, I added such usable upgrades as rack and pinion power steering, alternator, electronic ignition, modern air conditioning system with face vents (not trunk mounted), aluminum radiator for modern traffic cooling, electric side mirrors, Coombs spats (original spats included), AM/FM/CD radio with power antenna and Fog Ranger fog lights. As a result of the time and money expended on this automobile, it is truly a site to behold.
