This 1966 Jaguar S-Type was refinished in blue over blue in 1999, and it was stored for a decade before the seller acquired it in mid-2019. Power comes from a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and other features include 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a wooden dashboard, Smiths gauges, and a cassette player. Under current ownership the engine, transmission, exhaust, brakes, power steering, and suspension have been serviced. This S-Type is now offered with recent service records, a service manual, a blue California license plate, a car cover, and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been refinished in 1999 in its current shade of blue. Features include a “leaper” hood ornament, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual fuel fillers, halogen light bulbs, and dual exhaust. Stone chips are noted.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels utilize two-ear knock-offs and are mounted with 185/65 Pirelli Four Seasons Plus tires that were replaced under current ownership. The four-wheel disc braking system utilizes inboard rear discs. The brakes were serviced and the suspension bushings and subframe mounts were replaced in late 2019 by British Automotive Repair of Scottsdale, Arizona.
The interior features blue leather upholstery on the seating surfaces, complemented by a gloss-finished wooden dashboard and wood trim that extends to the center stack, doors, and pillars. A Clarion cassette player is mounted in the factory location. Splits are present along some seams in the seats. The door weatherstripping was replaced in 2019, and the seatbelts are said to have been replaced.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller.
The 3.8-liter twin-cam inline-six was rated at 225 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque in stock trim. The exhaust-manifold gaskets were replaced and a stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2019, at which point the harmonic balancer and spark plugs also were replaced, the gas tank was cleaned, and the power steering was serviced. The generator has been rebuilt and the battery replaced under current ownership.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was serviced in June 2020.
More than $12,600 worth of work performed by British Automotive Repair of Scottsdale, Arizona since October 2019.
The Arizona title lists a J66 prefix ahead of the car’s P1B75779BW chassis number.
