Car to be at auction 11/13
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2013-11-30/car/1961-jaguar-mkii-34litre.aspx

Auction description:
Lot245 - 1961 Jaguar MK.II 3.4 Litre
Registration 5520LJ
Chassis Number P156618BW
Engine Number KH1020-8
Odometer reading 15,850 miles
Estimate £11,000 - £14,000

Originally registered in the UK on 1st November, 1961, this Jaguar Mk. II has been well cared for throughout its 50 years on the road. In 1984, 5520LJ was shipped to Illinois in the U.S. returning to the UK in 1990; the export and import papers are in the file, together with a number of receipts/invoices during the car's 'holiday abroad'. The current vendor purchased this Mk. II in August 1998 from the E-Type Centre in Warwickshire and has thoroughly enjoyed the use of this lovely car for the last 15 years. Unfortunately due to the vendor's poor health, the Jaguar has been used little of late and he has decided it is time for someone else to enjoy owning this delightful example. Finished in gunmetal with red leather trim, this Jaguar is fitted with a manual gearbox and overdrive and comes supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until 30th July 2014 and a comprehensive history file. A very useable iconic classic Jaguar and, given the estimate, offered at a realistic price.

Auction description:
August 30, 2014 auction
Lot 232 - 1961 Jaguar Mk. II Saloon (3.4 litre)
Registration 5520LJ
Chassis Number P156618BW
Engine Number KH1020-8
Odometer reading 16,065 miles
Estimate £17,000 - £20,000

Originally registered in the UK on 1st November 1961, this Jaguar Mk. II has been well cared for throughout its 50 years on the road. In 1984, 5520LJ was shipped to Illinois in the U.S. returning to the UK in 1990; the export and import papers are in the file together with a number of receipts/invoices during the car's 'holiday abroad'. The last owner purchased this Mk. II in August 1998, from the E-Type Centre in Warwickshire, and thoroughly enjoyed the use of this car for 15 years. The vendor then purchased this last year and had the car repainted in the classic silver, he also has had it fully serviced with new fan belts, ignition coil and new hoses. He also replaced the exhaust system with a new stainless steel system and fitted four new tyres. Supplied with the original red leather trim, this Jaguar is fitted with a manual gearbox and overdrive and comes supplied with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until 30th July 2015 and a comprehensive history file. A fine example of this iconic classic Jaguar.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
