This 1959 Jaguar MK IX was acquired by the current owner’s late husband as a non-running project out of Canada in 2000 and has since been fitted with a 350ci GM V8 equipped with an Edelbrock 650-cfm carburetor, a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, and a 12-bolt rear end. The car is finished in green over tan vinyl and equipped with a metal sunroof, fender-mounted side mirrors, driving lights, a Leaper hood ornament, and picnic tables for the rear passengers. A repaint was reportedly carried out in 2013, and additional modifications include independent front suspension and front disc brakes from an XJS, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, a back-up camera, an aftermarket stereo, and air conditioning. This MK IX is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Oregon title.
The car was refinished in its current shade of green following bodywork performed in 2013. The brightwork has reportedly been rechromed, and features include a metal sunroof, fender-mounted mirrors, driving lights, a Leaper hood ornament, chrome bumpers with overriders, and a backup camera. The seller notes the presence of rust, body filler, and inferior body work around the inner and outer fenders, lower doors, door sills, rocker panels, trunk floor, and areas of the frame.
Polished 15″ wheels with factory hubcaps sourced from a Jaguar XJ are wrapped in whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, along with rear drum brakes and independent front suspension and disc brakes sourced from a Jaguar XJS. The rear shocks and springs are said to have been replaced.
The seats and door panels were reupholstered in tan vinyl in 2012, and a replacement wool headliner and carpets were also installed. Amenities include a Dual CD stereo, an under-dash air conditioner, rear seat picnic tables, a floor-mounted Hurst shifter, and a display screen for the backup camera. Loose weatherstripping, areas of rust in the door sills, and warped woodwork are visible.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a wood dashboard housing a 120-mph speedometer and non-functional factory auxiliary gauges. Aftermarket instrumentation monitoring coolant temperature, battery voltage, and fuel level have been added below the dash. The odometer indicates 59k miles, approximately 10k of which were added during current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 350ci GM V8 was installed during current ownership and features an Edelbrock 650-cfm carburetor, intake manifold, and valve covers, along with an electronic ignition distributor, an aluminum radiator, and a K&N air filter. A dual-muffler exhaust has been added, and a 19-gallon fuel tank with an internal pump and sending unit is mounted in the trunk. Oil leaks are noted to be present and the electric choke is disconnected.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission, a custom driveshaft, and a GM-sourced 12-bolt rear axle.
