Ebay item 2/27/09

Current bid $4,550, no reserve, 10 bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1960 Jaguar Mark IX, Clean original survivor, No Reserve. This Jaguar Mark IX is a highly original unrestored car in remarkable condition. The frame is straight and true. The car does not appear to have ever been in an accident. Most amazingly, I have found no rust at all save for a couple minor surface areas the size of a quarter. Given the age and the model, this is almost unheard of. Of course, it is a California car and has never seen winter. As you'll see in the photos below, the interior is nearly flawless with beautiful dark red leather and very nice wood. It drives wonderfully well, even at highway speeds. These cars truly were built for Grace, Space and Pace (the Jaguar tagline at the time).

I say unrestored, but in fact much mechanical work has been done to this car. There was a full engine rebuild just over two years ago and it now starts immediately and reliably every time. At that time, the carbs were rebuilt as well. Soon after, I installed a $2000 stainless steel exhaust system--the last one the car will ever need. Both fuel tanks were rebuilt. The power steering was rebuilt. Transmission was serviced. And recently, I had the radiator rebuilt as well. Those are just the major items. Innumerable smaller items have been serviced, repaired or replaced by my mechanic.

In all, over $22,000 has been invested in this car. Were I to keep it longer, I'd get it repainted and re-do the chrome, as the front and rear bumpers are beginning to show some pitting and peeling. Once that's done, it is the kind of car that could be entered into and win local shows. Or it could serve as a romantic wedding limosine. Or just an amazingly eye-catching weekend driver for jaunts in the country. Remember, Kim Novak drove a green Jaguar just like this in the film Vertigo. Even now, whenever I pull into a valet stand, all the heads turn. Most people think it's a Bentley. And the valets always let me park out front!! car has been fitted with an under-dash air conditioning unit as well. This is not an original piece of Jaguar equipment and can easily be removed if you wish to return the car to full originality. The air-conditioning is not currently charged, but my mechanic assures me that all the parts are in place and it should work perfectly. no known flaws in the upholstery. Seats and door panels are truly as good as can be! back seat is nothing less than stunning. The wood trays are fabulous, as is the broad bench seat. The body is quite straight. the paint is by no means perfect and has been touched up in places with differing degrees of visibility. For example, the trunk appears to be a shade off from the rest of the car. That said, I'm impressed with how shiny it still remains. For example, take a look at the reflections coming off the hood!

Look lets be honest sometimes you make a mistake? This would be one of those prime cases. We had a few too many spritzers at the car show and the next thing you know we own a Jag. We dont work on Jags, we dont really even like Jags but the old man thought it would be a great project car. The problem is we would rather be fishing than working on another project car. So if you know Jags and would like to restore this fine piece of craftsmanship then make us an offer.....but don't be a JAG we don't need the money that bad we would rather light a match and burn this bitch to the ground just for the fun of it than give it away! asking $16,900 serious inquires only.

And for god sake hurry up we have trolling motors we would like to buy for our fishing boats.......
