Ebay item 12/4/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $1,225, no reserve, 7 bids 7 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Has not been driven since 1989 . This car had been used in many weddings and other formal occasions .It was a very pretty car .

It was parked after a wedding , and not used again . The brakes quit working from sitting . That is the main reason the car never was driven again .

The car was put into storage with the intent to update the drive train (ie:hotrod). Never got around to it .

The place it was stored was damp. There are blisters in the paint. There is very little rust on the body.

This car will need a total restoration. Would make a great father - son project. I will never get it done, so the car is up for sale.

Buy the car for parts or fix it up. No reserve on this vehicle. I would hope it goes to a great home.

The motor spins freely and with some tinkering would probably run . Fuel tanks and the rest of the fuel system would have to be cleaned.

Car returns to ebay 12/21/11

Current bid $2,550 reserve not met, 6 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now in Lexington, Kentucky. 62k miles.

Sellers description:
First a brief history of this 1957 Jaguar Mark VII M. I found this Jaguar in California and it still bears its California black plates. It sat idle for many years having been last used in a wedding back in 1989. I was told that the brakes went out so it was put in storage with the wishful thought of fixing it. As time went on the then current owner decided to part with it. I have over the years collected Jaguars but never had a Mark VII M so here was my chance. Well three years later I have come to the conclusion that I have far too many cars and projects so it only seemed wise to let someone else enjoy this wonderful car. I will not go into any great detail but I will say it is a worthy car to bring back to its former glory. The engine has not been started since the eighties but it does turn over and appears to be very complete. The original air filter has been discarded for XK140 style filters. The paint had chips and lacquer bubbles from being neglected but as you can see in the pictures still holds a nice shine. The chrome detail, window frames etc. are still very nice. The bumpers will need replating but are not damaged. This Jaguar is very complete down to its Lucas fog lights and wing light tips. Even the tail lamps are remarkably beautiful. The interior looks very presentable and the wood is all in place with most of it still looking handsome. There are no glass issues. The trunk is as I found it however I have organized it somewhat. The jacking tools are present as is the spare wheel. Years past someone installed Etype wire wheels (15 inch) to the front. I have several original wheel caps and trim rings that are in the trunk but do not have the original 16 inch front road wheels. Well there you have a strong car with great eye appeal needing your love.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
