Hello, please check your body number. A MK IV DHC should have a body number starting with a "C", MKV DHC body numbers start from "DH1101" so body number "DH1022" should not exist. Of course a JDHT certificate can verify the numbers in case there was a mistake. Also it should not be easy if at all possible to mount a MKV DHC body onto a MKIV chassis but the engine and gearbox are interchangeable. Cheers, Pekka T.

Pekka T write an inaccuracy about the prefixe number of the body.
DH is really also for some MK 4, rare perhaps but exactly.
The JDHT certificate confirm that.
please don't write if you are not qualified.....

Hello,

Yes, thank you for correcting me, I was wrong. But it is a strange exception, even the JDHT has a question mark for these in that PDF on their web pages and when I asked about this from the archivist he said they do not know and have not researched why ca. 100 MKIV DHC's have a DH1XXX body number. So your car is a great addition to this web database, thank you for adding it and excuse me for my mistake, but you have to understand that there are innumerous mistakes in the body and engine numbers (5 vs. S, 1 vs. 7 etc.) and I was only trying to help. Take care, you have an exceptional car!
Best wishes, Pekka T. - 647194 (MKV DHC)

Very nice car. It would be interesting to view other parts of the car, such as engine, boot and interior compartments.
Thank you.

Seller's description:

Serial number: 637093

Fully restored in our workshops in 2010

This magnificent Jaguar MK IV is therefore one of the very few DHC driven on the left, and one of the exceptions to remain in Europe since it was manufactured and delivered new in Brussels in August 1948 from the Vanden Plas factory.

The first owner will only keep it for 5 years and will sell it in September 1953. In May 1974 after 21 years it will change hands and will remain in Belgium for 31 years. We acquired it in June 2005 and we undertook the restoration in 2008 to complete it in 2010.

Registered in France since 2010, we have a complete follow-up of its history from 1948 to today.

Body condition:

This Jaguar received a complete restoration of the bodywork in our workshops between 2008 and 2010.

The door and hood adjustments are perfect and the paintwork is always brilliant as well as the chrome.

The directional arrows are operational and it has its superb leaping Jaguar.

Saddlery condition:

We were able to keep the original seats miraculously preserved. The rest of the upholstery was restored, the door panels, the trunk and all the peripheral elements match the seats. The insulation and carpets are new. The hood, its lining and the chrome finishes are new.

Engine condition:

Engine redone in our workshops at the same time as the restoration. It is equipped with its original 3.5 liter engine. The oil pressure and the compressions are excellent.

Gearbox :

Original gearbox in perfect condition.

Rear axle :

The rear axle is reconditioned, very good handling.

Braking behavior:

Braking system redone. Braking is perfect and well in line.

- Original upholstery and engine

- Rare left-hand drive cabriolet version

- Restored by specialist Cecil Cars

- Very nice condition, only 376 models produced

Intended for the Belgian market, our beautiful Mk IV was delivered new by the Jaguar dealership in Brussels in May 1948. As attested by its Jaguar Heritage Trust, this is a rare left-hand drive "drophead coupe". In this configuration, it benefits from a very stylish three-position convertible body. You can choose between closed, fully open or half open in the so-called "Mylord" position. With its original 3.5 litre six-cylinder engine producing 125hp and its 4-speed manual gearbox, this car offers a very generous performance in a comfort worthy of the most prestigious brands.

The car was fully restored by the renowned specialist Cecil Cars in 2009. The bodywork, mechanics, rear axle, braking system, as well as the interior, carpets and woodwork were completely revised. In order to keep the car's soul, the "Suede Green" leather upholstery with its incredible patina has been able to be preserved. The photographic report in the file and an appraisal testify to the work carried out. Purchased by its current owner in 2016 with the same Cecil Cars, the car did recently get a general mechanical inspection and four new tyres. Production was limited to 376 left-hand drive convertibles, making this prestigious model not only a delicate and refined car, but also a very exclusive one too.
