Jaguar "Mark VI": June 2005, Jaguar Enthusiast, UK club magazine, p 71: letter from Harry Parkinson: "In the April 2005 edition of Jaguar Enthusiast ... p 80 Steve Myers posed questions about the "Mark VI" Jaguar. On a trip to Coventry and the JDHT last year, I researched the records for the only two Mark VIs known. A friend of mine owns the only existing Mark VI. He has the JDHT certificate for the car which I obtained for him while I was researching his car. The first car, chassis number 623173, renumbered by the Experimental Department from 620004, was produced in 1950. The earlier car, 623173, was sold to JE Bird Autos Ltd in June of 1954 some three years after the Mark VII went into production." The second car was 623053. "Almost certainly the earlier car, 623173, remained in the UK and was scrapped, but no proof positive exists of that." Editor: "I am pleased to say that erstwhile journalist Paul Skilleter has prepared an interesting article for us on the Jaguar Mark VI saloon fortuitously to appear in this issue of the magazine."
