Work included having the block re-bored and honed, the crankshaft crack-tested and straightened, the cam-shaft followers straightened, the camshaft re-ground and the cylinder head machined and fitted with new valve inserts and valves, along with various other improvements, all at a combined cost of over $19,000. Perfect for club events or touring, the car is currently registered in Victoria, but will be offered for sale unregistered and with NO RESERVE.

From the Estate of the Late Ian Cummins
Well known to Shannons, this exceptional 1948 Jaguar 3 ½ litre saloon was purchased by the previous owner at our December 2000 auction and subsequently restored to a high standard, with the paint applied by Armstrong & Son of Parkdale in 2001. The motor was overhauled by specialists Downshire Motors in 2003, with almost $20,000 invested in bringing the mechanical condition up to match the cosmetics. Ian Cummins added the Mark IV to his collection only last year, acquiring the car at Shannons' Melbourne Autumn Classic auction, one of the last he took to Tasmania. Beautifully presented in British Racing Green with contrasting burgundy leather upholstery, the Jaguar remains a superb example of this rare model and would suit the collector or marque enthusiast. Perfect for club events or touring, the car will be offered for sale unregistered.
