This car began life as a right-hand drive, home-market Mark V saloon with body number G5937, and Mr. Walter Gilling, its original owner, took delivery from Jack Olding & Co. Ltd. of London, England on March 16, 1950. It joined its current collection in mid-2007 after having been located by the prior owner in England, where at some point it had been converted to the Landaulette body style characterized by a fixed roof above the driver and a retractable top above the passengers. Drawn to its uniqueness, she purchased the car and brought it back with her to the USA. In 2002, a complete body-off-frame, photo-documented restoration commenced, and once completed, the freshly restored Mark V Landaulette was entered into the November 2003 West Palm Beach Concours d'Elegance, where it won the Best Saloon award.

While the restoration has aged somewhat, this distinctive Mark V presents nicely in a cream and white exterior finish with a tan leather interior and matching wool carpets. The car retains its original 2.5-liter engine and is complete with a comprehensive portfolio containing photographs and paperwork documenting the entire restoration process, as well as a Production Record Trace Certificate issued by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.

The example presented here, believed to be the world's only 1950 Jaguar Mk V Laudette, began life as a saloon wearing body number G5937. It was sold to a Mr. Walter Gilling March 16, 1950 by the dealer Jack Olding & Co Ltd, in London, England.

The current owner found the car in England, where it had at some point been converted to Laudette body style (characterized by a fixed roof above the driver and a retractable top above the passengers). Drawn to the uniqueness of this Mark V, she purchased the car and brought it back with her to the United States. In 2002, work commenced on a complete body-off-the-frame restoration that took two years to complete. A portfolio containing photographs and a detailed paper trail that accurately documents the entire restoration process is included in the sale of the Jaguar, as is a Production Record Trace Certificate no. 21015, issued by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.

Fresh from the restoration, the Mk V Laudette was brought to the West Palm Beach Concours d'Elegance, where the cream and white, two-tone Jaguar won the Best In Show Saloon award.

The interior is beautifully finished in tan leather with white piping and matching wool carpets. The original 2.5-liter engine remains under the hood and is reported to be in fine mechanical condition. Currently registered in Georgia, it also maintains its original English registration, ensuring that this Jaguar could be enjoyed on either side of the pond. Anywhere this lovely automobile travels, it will undoubtedly earn admiring remarks for its uniqueness and elegance.
