Auction description:
1965 Jaguar Mk2 3.8-Litre Saloon
Important Collectors' Motor Cars, and Motorcycles, Bonhams (4th December 2006)
Overview
This superb right-hand drive Mk2 boasts the ultimate, 3.8-litre, manual/overdrive, specification. The vendor advises us that the car underwent a complete ‘last nut and bolt’ restoration over a four-year period between 1993 and 1998 (video available). Work carried out included taking the bodyshell back to bare metal prior to repainting, and completely reconditioning the engine, gearbox and rear axle. New 72-spoke chromed wire wheels shod with new Avon tyres have been fitted, while the front brakes have been upgraded with Zeus 4-pot calipers. The interior has been completely re-trimmed, all woodwork re-lacquered and a matching Motolita steering wheel fitted. The front seats recline and their seatbelts have Jaguar-logo buckles. On completion the car’s underside was treated with 10 litres of Waxoyl preservative and remains - we are advised - as good today as it was then. Finished in British Racing Green with dark green-piped beige leather interior, the latter retaining its original (working) radio, this concours award-winning car is offered with full original tool kit, heritage certificate, MoT to July 2007, current road fund licence and Swansea V5 registration document.
