Ebay item 5/21/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-Other-Mark-2-MK2-mkII-3-8-/181751535483
Current bid US $1,025, no reserve, 10 bids 2 days left in auction. 70k miles.
Sellers description:
Here is a very original car.
Was bought by prior owner in 1974.
I have all his service records and maintenance records to prove mileage is correct at 70K.
Clear title is still in prior owners name with no blemishes, properly signed, and VIN numbers match.
Original owners manual and tool kit.
Original keys.
Jack intact.
The car has very little rust for a jag of it's age.
The car sat for years after the owners bought a new car back in the late 80s.
The tea trays are functional and are in nice shape. The headliner has no tears the visors and mirror are very nice.
All the wood is uncracked with no water damaged. No delaminating. Refinishing may just require light sanding and varnish.
There are speaker holes in the door panel for a pioneer system that is no longer there so the original radio block-off plate which was still with the car is shown.
The original gear shift knob is broken and in pieces and as such a rubber ball takes it's place.
The car still smells like an old british car full of wood wool and leather.
The engine turns and starts and runs when given fuel but the carbs are leaking and should be rebuilt. Seems to be in good health but was not run long enough to verify cooling system or other ancillary functions.
Although a bit grimy the engine bay is in good original order and it looks like under the grease the valve covers and other polished bits will shine up nice - no oxidation.
Battery area solid. No battery.
The parking brake works fine but the brake system does not either needing a bleed or master cylinder rebuild. These cars were infamous for loosing brakes while sitting.
Tires are vintage Pirelli whitewalls! The tread is still good. No obvious cracking. Hubcaps in the car.
All glass is good and all windows function.
There is a dent on the front right fender under the headlight and shallow scrape on the rear tail/skirt area. Both will NOT require any panel replacement. Also there a re a few shallow impressions in the roof - hard to photograph - I tried a shot in raking light. See pics.
The passenger side rear jack point is the worst rust damage I could find. Looks to have been torn from the mount. All other jack points are solid with the rubber plugs intact.
It had some repair to the front lower fenders behind the wheel back in 1979 per included receipts to and it is showing some bubbling again under the paint.
I took a magnet to the car and verified the lower fender area mentioned as having some filler. Rockers are very nice. Otherwise the frame and floor are rust free.
Being in colorado and new mexico since 1974 has saved this car from a lot of moisture damage and rust. A great starting point.
The air cleaner is in the trunk as it was not replaced after getting the car running.
A solid car with solid history that could be a drive with minimal work.
