www.bonhams.com/auctions/20141/lot/306/

Auction description:
Lot 306
1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.8-Litre Saloon
Registration no. 727 NYC
Chassis no. 207032DN
Engine no. 7B63276-8
Estimate:
£12,000 - 15,000
€15,000 - 18,000
US$ 19,000 - 24,000
Representing the Jaguar Mk2 in its ultimate 3.8-litre/overdrive configuration, this example was purchased fresh from restoration in 1999 for entry into the Monte Carlo Winter Challenge. Since then the Jaguar has completed three Winter Challenges and several Euro Classics, all without problems. In 2001 the engine was rebuilt around a new cylinder block and at the same time the head was fitted with hardened valve seats. Described by the private vendor as in generally very good condition, the car is offered with sundry restoration invoices, old-style logbook, current MoT/tax and Swansea V5. An engine change, Spax shock absorbers, Kenlowe electric fan and an electronic distributor are the only notified deviations from factory specification.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
