Car to be at auction 7/15
www.silverstoneauctions.com/1967-jaguar-340-auto-

Auction description:
Silverstone Classic Sale
Lot 528

Registration: JBK 633F
Chassis Number: 1J50164BW
Engine Number: 7J50211-8
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3400cc
Year of Manufacture: 1967
Estimate (£): 12,000 - 16,000
No Reserve

This, matching numbers, automatic gearbox, Jaguar 340 was manufactured on the 7th of September, 1967 and is an imposing and handsome car offered in the timeless colours of British Racing Green with a plush black interior. It benefits from being the recipient of extensive maintenance and upgrades during its life, including a rebuilt engine and cylinder head in 2012 by Coventry Boring & Metalling Co., a Graham Whitehouse rebuilt gearbox in 2003, a power steering conversion, stainless steel exhaust and low wear polyurethane suspension bushes for better handling.

This car comes from the home of a skilled engineer, who is an avid Jaguar collector, and has been set up to be extremely reliable and when required a fantastic grand tourer, as proven by a handful of problem free long distance trips with his family including the Le Mans classic.

Accompanying the car is more than 30 years of comprehensive history, including tax discs and MoT's tracking the life of this Jaguar through its six owners. Furthermore, this car retains its original tool kit and is fitted with a fully functioning tow bar. As a nod to its sporting heritage, this timeless Jaguar wears Coombs style rear spats and is fitted with an evocative E-Type style steering wheel.

The paintwork is in good order all round, save for one or two very minor blemishes at the bottom of the offside rear passenger door, and the interior is in excellent condition with reconditioned wood, new carpets, new headlining and excellent seating.

Offered Without Reserve and in fine order throughout, this 340 Jaguar is worthy of serious consideration at auction.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
