For consignment, the Jaguar S Type which is a lesser known model taken over by the E-Types, but certainly none the less tasteful and a real performer. Also a total of a mere 1,008 S types were produced in 1967 and this car is fully documented with correspondence and to the original buyer. This car went to its original owner in Bangkok and rode its way to NYC from Britain on one of the last voyages of the Queen Mary which was retired in 1967! It is documented with the insurance papers stating that Cunard Lines helped provide the coverage. Also, a rare 4-speed transmission, throw in some Willow Green paint and a walnut dash and we have a winner at a fab price!

Exterior

A wonderful vertical ribbed kidney bean-esque grille leads the way and it is flanked by 2 circular bezel headlights on either side and an additional 2 more lower fog lights for getting around London, (say London Fog, or is that Bangkok fog?). The rounded grille, which was fashioned with many hours on an english wheel, has rounded front quarters and a rounded V shaped hood abutting it. This long bonnet flows back to the chromed trimmed windscreen which is also curved. A wonderfully rounded over roofline takes over from this point and covers 4 well minded gapped doors and perfect glass with more wide chrome trimmings. On the back, the rear glass is ...yes you guessed it...curved and gently lands on the trunk deck also flowing nicely to the rear chrome bumper which wraps way around the ever thinning rear quarters. On either side are vertical rounded tail lights reminiscent of an earlier Saab. In the center is a large chromed license plate light, and dual exhaust from a single muffler that branches out, peek out from underneath. This car rides on beautiful 15-inch chromed wire wheels and these are wrapped by 205/70R15s on all 4 corners. Willow Green in perfect shiny condition bathes all these curvaceous rust free panels for the entire wonderfully tasteful and even a hint of wealth automobile.

Interior

For the inside, ultra wide and beautifully aged dark green Connolly leather low back buckets accommodate the front passengers, and in back, a beautifully crafted wide dual bucket single bench with more Connolly leather. All the wonderfully comfy chairs float on Wilton green carpeting that begs my piggies to wriggle in it's plushness. Perfectly preserved dark green leather covers the 4 doors and for the sills burl walnut takes over. It does so also for the dash, where it is abundant and mixed with a bevy of sweep gauges, a lineup of more circular gauges in dash central, and just below enough toggles and pulls to keep a 747 pilot occupied! This gorgeous dash works its way down to the center console but not before expanding wide to accommodate a temp slider and some chromed knobs on either side. It melts into a center green leather covered console which houses a short shift lever in the center. The console runs to the back between the front wide chairs. Above an off white tight headliner hovers above the passenger compartment. All very tasteful and covered with leather and walnut burl with a peppering of chrome trimmings.

Drivetrain

Under that V shaped hood is a 3.4 Liter inline 6 cylinder engine stuffed within its confines. It is fed by 2 Su HD6 carbs and has a rare optioned 4-speed manual transmission on back. Final drive is offered up with 3.54 gears. All is well under this hood worth no patina, no rust and just shiny and excellently preserved mechanicals. Right down to the stainless steel mufflers, this car is pure quality and good taste!

Undercarriage

Underneath straight black painted structurally sound steel for the unibody and floor pans. No rust, drips, or errors under here, just solid 4 wheel independent suspension borrowed from the E-type. Disc braking is on all 4 corners as well. As good as the topside mate!

Drive-Ability

A quick starter and runs like a dream as well as handles as such. Bias free braking, an fine handling for this sophisticated automobile with the sing of the cat and not a Mercury..(How pedestrian!). The turn signals and high beams are in-operable, however all other functions operated as they should.

This car presents in beautifully restored Willow green, Connolly hides and Wilton carpeting along with all that walnut burl that says nothing but sophistication. The exterior is to die for, and the long 4 door design makes it a real steal at the offering price. Go head take the leaper(sic).

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
