Chassis # 1 B25848 DN
Engine No. 7B 7174-8
- A luxurious and comfortable model
- A beautifully preserved leather interior
- Manual gearbox with overdrive
- No reserve
Sold new in France by the Royal Élysées Delecroix Automobile garage, importer of Jaguar in France and whose label is located under the hood, this 3.4-liter Jaguar S Type with manual gearbox and overdrive was regularly used by Madame Baillon. Kept by the family, the car still wears its old license plate of 7819 BE 92. Under its shabby appearance, the car hides an absolutely beautiful tobacco leather interior, which seems to be not torn and has an inimitable patina. In the trunk there are still the tools in the special receptacle, housed in the spare wheel. Under the hood is the classic XK engine, topped by a large air filter, and it appears complete. In this 3.4-liters version, the engine develops 213bhp, taking the car to 190 km/h max speed. However it is especially its comfort and luxury that differentiates this car from the Mk II, from which it is derived: with a rear independent suspension, it is a much more comfortable car. Additionally, with its extended rear in the style of Mark X, the boot has a much larger load capacity, while bringing to the design a look that is both sleek and elegant. This example has a miraculously well preserved interior and provides an excellent base for a high quality restoration project.
