Car to be at auction 7/24

www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-260---1961-jaguar-mk-ii-42-litre/

Auction description:

Historics Auctioneers - The Summer Serenade

1961 Jaguar Mk. II (2.4 Litre)

Registration: 430 RDT

Chassis No: 109741DN

Engine No: 7F4842-8

Mileage: 45,027

•: Fitted with a 4.2 litre engine

•: Manual gearbox with overdrive

Originally registered on 4th November 1961 this Jaguar Mk. II was restored around 2004 with photographic evidence of the work carried out. Benefitting from an upgraded engine, 430 RDT is now fitted with a 4.2 litre engine which appears to have come from a Jaguar 420 saloon from circa 1968. The front calipers have recently been renewed. The speedometer has been changed and we are advised around 5,000 miles needs to be added to the current odometer reading. Finished in red with a matching red interior this Jaguar Mk. II sits proudly on wire wheels. The manual gearbox has an overdrive unit and with ample power available, this is a great car to drive. Supplied with a history folder and a current V5 document, the fastidious vendor has diligently had the V5 changed to show the correct and current engine number. He has also ensured the car has been MoT'd regularly, the current one expires on 13th March 2025. The original radio is supplied as is the toolkit which appears to be complete. This is a thoroughly useable example of one of the best designs to come out of Browns Lane. Consigned by Stewart Banks.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
