This 1961 Jaguar Mk II was purchased by the former president of the Jaguar Association of Greater St. Louis in 1991 and is held in the collection at Just Jags in Hazelwood, Missouri. It was restored in the early 2010s, and work included a bare-metal repaint in the factory Sherwood Green, reupholstering the cabin in the original Suede Green leather, and overhauling the brakes and suspension. The 2.4-liter inline-six was rebuilt in 2019 and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an overdrive unit. Service in 2024 included changing the fluids and replacing the battery. This right-hand-drive Mk II is now offered on behalf of the owner with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, a Best In Class concours award, the owner’s manual, service records, historical literature, sales brochures, period magazines, spare parts, and a clean Missouri title.
The car was disassembled, stripped, and repainted in its original Sherwood Green in the early 2010s. The brightwork was also refinished at that time.
The brakes, steering, and suspension were overhauled during the restoration, as were the 15″ wire wheels, which are mounted with Dunlop Road Speed tires manufactured in 2005. The car was factory-equipped with independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes.
The right-hand-drive cockpit has been reupholstered in the factory Suede Green leather using materials from BAS Ltd. Burl walnut veneers adorn the dashboard, door caps, and window frames, and interior equipment includes a push-button radio, a heater, and front and rear vent windows.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges displaying water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.4-liter XK inline-six was factory-rated at 120 horsepower and 142 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 2019 at a reported cost of over $58k. Service in 2024 included changing the fluids and replacing the battery.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The Jaguar Heritage certificate notes the original colors and lists the engine and gearbox numbers.
The car won best in class at a Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance.
Documentation includes manuals, period brochures, magazines, and other historical literature.
