Ebay item 8/22/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-MARK-1-SEDAN-STRIKING-1959-JAGUAR-MARK-1-AUTOMATI ...
Current bid $5,655 reserve not met, 8 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
RESTORED MID-EIGHTIES TO DRIVER STANDARD. 6700 MILES SINCE (2000 MILES SO FAR THIS YEAR.) CORRECT CARMEN RED EXTERIOR/ TAN VINYL INTERIOR. BEAUTIFUL WOOD. 3.4 LITER BORED 0.60 OVER. PREVIOUS OWNER STATED AUTOMATIC REBUILT WHEN HE OBTAINED IT. ALL RESTORATION BILLS FROM 1986. LAST TWO YEARS: COMPLETELY REBUILT BRAKE SYSTEM INCLUDING NEW MASTER CYLINDER & BRAKE LINES. MODERN RADIAL WHITEWALLS. ALUMINUM RADIATOR (runs cool even in 100 degree Oklahoma heat). CONVERTED TO NEGATIVE GROUND. NEW FUEL PUMP. PERIOD CORRECT LUCAS RADIOMOBILE FITTED, ALSO MODERN FM/CD PLAYER. NEW FRONT BUSHINGS. NEW EXHAUST FROM DOWNPIPE (not shown in pictures.) ALL INSTRUMENTS (except clock) WORK. I DRIVE THIS CAR REGULARLY AROUND TOWN. WHILE CAR IS NOT A SHOW CAR IT DID RECEIVE SECOND IN DRIVEN CLASS IN OKLAHOMA CITY JAGUAR CLUB CONCOURS. THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS CLASS WINNER (people's choice) AT GOMBC SHOW (Carthage, Mo). THE COMPLETE CHASSIS & BODY WAS PAINTED WITH POR 15 BEFORE UNDERCOATING AND FINAL COAT (1 STAGE) APPLIED. THERE IS NO VISIBLE RUST ANYWHERE. THE INTERIOR IS DONE IN VERY HIGH QUALITY VINYL AND CARPETING, AND HAS A WOOL HEADLINER. (For the price paid a correct Jaguar interior could have been fitted, but the previous owner/restorer was not a stickler for Jaguar-correctness). SHUT LINES EXCELLENT. HERE'S THE NEGATIVE STUFF: WHILE PAINT IS VERY SHINY, IT IS NOT A SHOW JOB. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF SPOTS (low on left rear door and on left spat) WHERE PAINT IS BUBBLING - VERY MINOR - DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE RUST BUT POOR PREP. CAR WAS DAMAGED IN STORAGE (left front fender) AND REPAINT EVEN POORER THAN ORIGINAL (but you have to know about it to spot it). TYPICAL JAGUAR LEAKS - FROM ENGINE & TRANSMISSION. I HAVE NOT DETAILED ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT ALL.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
