This 1957 Jaguar MK I is a partially-disassembled project which the seller purchased in 2018 from the second owner, who acquired it in 1972. The car was placed into storage in 1980 with the intention of one day being restored. The second owner had removed most of the exterior chrome prior to storing the car, and he kept the trim separately in his home. Since acquiring the car earlier this year, the seller has removed the numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six and original 4-speed manual transmission, stripped the floors and engine bay, and refinished those areas with rust-inhibiting paint. Many spare parts are included, ranging from the removed trim and lights to the tool kit and a spare gearbox. This MK I is now being offered in Toronto with an Ontario registration in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in green over powder coated black steel wheels with new tires. The seller soaked the paint with Meguiars Show Glaze for a day prior to buffing, and he notes that the finish has faded, and chips, scratches, and cracking are present in the finish. The door and window weatherstripping is hard and visibly cracked.

The previous owner removed most of the exterior trim and stored it in his home wrapped in towels. The seller has since reinstalled much of the trim and found that one of the front turn signal lenses was missing.

The leather seats and matching door panels are included, though no carpets or headliner are present. Centrally-mounted instrumentation is present in the wood dash panel, and a factory steering wheel remains fitted. The seller notes that the wiring has been removed from the car. 62k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.

Photos of the interior with the seats removed are provided. The seller cleaned the cabin floors, trunk floors, and engine compartment with a wire wheel and coated the areas with POR15 rust-protectant.

The factory 3.4L XK inline-six and a pair of 4-speed manual transmissions are included, one with overdrive and one without. The shock mounts have been sand blasted and repainted, and the engine mounts and driveshaft is included.

Engine number stampings on both the block, head and transmission number. These correspond to the numbers on the chassis tag, confirming them as original.

The previous owner removed, cleaned, and reinstalled the fuel tank, and the seller repeated the process. The seller has also replaced the ball joints, front suspension bushings, and front suspension mounts, and rebuilt the front sway bar. Removed parts were reportedly sand blasted and refinished prior to reinstallation with new fasteners where required. Shock absorbers are not currently installed, and the mounts have been sandblasted and repainted.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
