This 1957 Jaguar Mark I Saloon is finished in Burgandy with a black leather interior and is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Build data provided from Jaguar Cars indicates this Mark I was originally Sherwood Green with a Suede Green interior. Previously a California car, the vehicle is currently located in Nashville, Tennessee, and offered with a clear Tennessee title.
The vehicle was refinished in its current shade of Burgandy about a year ago as it was being prepared for the Great American Race. Lucas style fog lamps are fitted to the front bumper, and chrome body moldings run from bonnet to boot. Exterior features include chrome bumpers with overriders, pop-out rear vent windows, and a chrome leaping Jaguar mascot gracing the vehicle’s hood.
Body-colored steel wheels wear chrome Jaguar center caps, and trim rings mounted to a set of black wall tires. Equipment includes Dunlop power front disc brakes and an independent front suspension featuring double wishbones, coil springs, telescopic dampers, and an anti-roll bar.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black leather. Color matching door panels and pile carpeting are enhanced by bright chrome hardware and trim. The shifter is wrapped within a black leather boot and sits just below a modern stereo unit mounted beneath the dash.
A four-spoke Bakelite steering wheel fronts a burled walnut dashboard with cubby boxes flanking an instrument cluster of Smith’s gauges. A 140 mph speedometer and 6,000 rpm tachometer are situated between gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel and voltage.
The 3.4 liter inline-6 is equipped with twin SU carbs and is factory rated at 210 bhp with a top speed of 120 mph. The 4-speed manual transmission features a close-ratio gearbox with overdrive. The overdrive is accessible by a dash-mounted switch within reach of the driver’s left hand.
The trunk features a fitted vinyl beneath, which is a full-size spare tire. Within the wheel sits a factory 16 piece tool kit.
