The story of this beautiful 66 year old car is quite remarkable. And it is all carefully documented in its extensive history file. Here is a summary.
The car was first registered on 11th January 1958 by an engineer in the town of Gallivare in northern Sweden.
The first owner covered just 4,101 miles (6,600kms) in the first 13 years of its life, travelling locally. In 1978 it transferred to its second owner who intended to restore it. He began the process of dismantling it before selling it two years later to a friend who planned to continue the refurbishment process. Unfortunately that never happened and the car remained stored in a warm garage for the next 30 years.
The vendor, a lady of 78, acquired the car in 2008 planning to restore it. She had always wanted an Old English White Jaguar with burgundy interior and set about achieving this with the help of a local mechanic. He restored the car over six years, completing it in 2013. This work, like all other servicing and maintenance on the car, is carefully documented in the history file.
Since the car was finished it has been used sparingly and mainly locally, attending shows and rallies. It has accrued a range of trophies, some of which are shown in photographs and including the People’s Choice award at a local show.
The only trip further afield was to take part in a rally in northern Sweden close to the car’s original home in Gallivare. It was carefully transported there on a covered trailer. During that trip the owner met a local Jaguar enthusiast who was a child in 1958 and recalled the car from its early days with the first owner. He told the owner how it was used very sparingly, mainly for vacations to the south of Sweden.
