Auction description:
Lot 227: 1965 Jaguar MK II Saloon 3.8 Litre
Fine Motor Cars And The Jaguar Legend, Coys (24th June 2006)
Overview
Offered here today is perhaps one of the finest MK II's on the market. Manufactured in 1965 this particular MK II is finished in grey with a red leather interior and has benefited from a complete nut and bolt restoration by specialists Classic Coachbuilders of Sittingbourne, Kent. The car was purchased by the vendor in late 1997 where it was immediately taken to Classic Coachbuilders for a full, no expense spared restoration. The engine was completely rebuilt with all worn parts replaced as necessary and painted and detailed exactly as original. A lead free cylinder head conversion was also carried out. The car comes complete with many invoices from Classic Coachbuilders with bills in excess of over £70,000. Major work carried out included subtle up-grades to the car so it remained true to the original but improving the overall handling and performance of the car. Modifications include an XJS type power steering rack, conversion to a 5 speed manual gearbox, air conditioning, central locking, modified front braking system with four pot calipers and new brake discs. The body was taken back to bare metal and repainted to a very high standard along with repainting of suspension components and rear axle, again to a very high standard. All bumpers and overriders were re-chromed along with extra rubber packing to doors to reduce wind noise. The interior has been completely re-rimmed in the finest Connolly leather with new walnut veneers. The seats are heated and the ventilation system has been improved. Many other up-grades were carried out which are fully detailed in the cars history file. In total 1800 man hours have been spent on this car creating perhaps one of the finest MK II's in existence. The car is supplied with a large file of bills and receipts, a current MoT valid until March next year and a V11 document.
