Ebay item 7/29/10

Current bid $4,494 reserve not met, 12 bids 3 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This gorgeous white Jag comes to you from sunny Southern California
where it is in the hands of the same owner since 1972!
The car was restored in the early 80's and has been driven but always garaged and well kept since.
It is an older restoration of course, but it still shows well.
The "Concours Crowd" may pick it apart but on the road it attracts attention like mad
and always manages to get front row parking in any valet situation.
There are a few small scratches as you see above...no major damage of any sort
just signs of use and I must say this old cat had aged gracefully.
Cracked taillight lens...chrome looks nice. Window seals are a little dry and there is some minor overspray on smaller bits from the respray 30 years ago.
The car has been off the road since the late 90's and has been in storage.
It will need some minor work to be road ready.
The water pump has just been rebuilt and needs to be re-installed,
the brakes should be checked out for safety's sake but they do hold pressure currently.
The fuel is getting a bit old so it will need to be flushed out. The fuel filters are clogged with Sediment. ..the tank is dirty. The car does start and run briefly on the bad gas, the car does go into gear and move under it's own power. No signs of any accidents or body issues. The engine is a 4.2 litre unit from an early 70's XKE.
This engine exchange was done prior to the current owner's purchase back in 72! The interior is very pretty and was redone in the early 80's during the restoration.
Seats and panels were redone in vinyl with velour inserts.
It is all in excellent condition, but it not technically "correct "...another tick off the judges tally sheet. Headliner is holding well with just the slightest signs of age along the posts. Interior lights are functional.
Instruments are in great shape as is the wood on the dash.
The car has remained garaged and has not been subject to poor weather.
The climate is very dry here and the car has survived very well as a result of that.
A dreamy find if you want a truly solid one.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
