Description from above auction:
P223857DN
French title
Chassis n° P223857DN

- One owner since 1990
- Continuous maintenance
- Desirable sunroof option
- Delivered new to Paris by Delecroix.

The records for this Jaguar MkII tell us that it left the factory on 9 July 1964 and was delivered new on 30 July by the agent Delecroix to a certain M. Somas, in Paris. In June 1977, it changed hands in Paris and, since March 1990, has had one owner. At that time, it recorded 29,000 km and the figure today is 45,870 km. Its owner has had much work carried out on the car, as documented in the file of invoices: the shock absorbers were replaced and the carburettors overhauled by British Motors in 1996 ; mechanical work in 1998 by Jaguar specialists SPR that included replacing the exhaust manifold, core plugs, greasing, control of the ball-joints ; repairs to the clutch and the radiator in 2011. Offered without technical inspection (MOT), the car has not been driven regularly for some time and will need a service, although a short test drive enabled us to ascertain that it is running correctly. Presented in attractive burgundy livery, the grey leather upholstery is in good condition, lightly patinated, with wood trim that would benefit from some attention. Equipped with a rare opening sunroof, it also comes with a manual gearbox with overdrive, features that allow its qualities as a powerful and luxurious saloon to be enjoyed to the full.

Estimation 20 000 - 30 000 €

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
