Details
This outstanding example of a 3.8 MKII Saloon, has been the subject of a £60,000+ restoration, by Southern Classics, during which it was also sensibly upgraded in a few areas. These included the fitting of Vicarage power steering via rack and pinion, Harvey Bailey suspension both front and rear, Zeus brake calipers all round, uprated, aluminium cooling system, electronic ignition, alternator conversion, 4 speed, all syncromesh gearbox, with overdrive, stainless steel, sports exhaust system and stainless steel wire wheels, equipped with Avon tyres.

The car was originally a LHD example, exported to the USA and re-imported to the UK in 1996. It was originally equipped with Reuter reclining seats, from new but these have, along with the whole interior, been restored. The 3.8 XK Engine was given to Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering in Gillingham, Dorset, where it received a full rebuild to fast road specification. The car has covered just 17000 miles since the completion of the restoration.

Finished in opalescent silver blue metallic with navy blue leather and carpets, the car is presented in outstanding condition throughout. To replicate the car, one would spend around 3 times the reserve, plus the price of a sound 3.8 saloon.

This is a very reluctant sale, which is necessary due health issues. The vendor could not bring himself to sell the car directly, which is why it is offered here.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a superb example of an iconic Jaguar, which offers period styling together with more modern handling and stopping power. The car has an MoT through to January 2010 and historic tax through to February 2010.

Note: The registration has been blanked out on the customers request. To allay any fears prospective buyers may have, we do HPI all vehicles sold by us, before releasing funds to the vendor.

Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
Estimate £27000-30000

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
