This 1962 Jaguar Mk II was acquired by the current owner in 2008 and subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment during which the body was refinished in yellow, the burl walnut interior trim was refreshed, and the bumpers, trim, and wire wheels were rechromed. Powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the car features black leather upholstery, seatback tray tables, a wood-rimmed Derrington steering wheel, rear fender skirts, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and dual SU carburetors. This Mk II 3.8 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a 2010 issue of Jaguar Journal featuring the car on the cover in addition to service manuals, a tool kit, and a duplicate Arizona title.

The car was refinished in yellow and the bumpers and trim are said to have been rechromed as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Additional exterior details include auxiliary inboard lights, fender-mounted side mirrors, pop-out vent windows, and removable rear fender skirts.

Wire-spoke 15″ wheels with two-eared knock-off hubs were reportedly rechromed under current ownership and are mounted with 6.40″ Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires. A spare is located beneath the trunk floor. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench that are upholstered in black leather and accompanied by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. The burl walnut trim is said to have been refreshed under current ownership, and additional appointments include lap belts, a locking glovebox, and seatback tray tables. The Motorola push-button radio is inoperative.

The wood-rimmed Derrington steering wheel has a half horn ring and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inoperative inset clock as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles, approximately 900 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and a Lucas ignition coil, and a spin-on oil-filter setup has been installed. An oil change was performed most recently in November 2023.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The car was featured on the cover of the July/August 2010 issue of Jaguar Journal, a copy of which will accompany the car along with service manuals, a tool kit, a knock-off mallet, and components for the removed oil-filter housing.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
