This 1961 Jaguar Mark II was acquired in 2015 out of Texas by the current owner and is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Finished in white over tan leather, the car features 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, dual side-view mirrors, fold-down rear trays, and an aftermarket push-button radio. Work performed under current ownership included rebuilding the engine, transmission, differential, and starter as well as replacing the thermostat, radiator, carburetors, intake manifold, fuel pump, brake booster, and rear brake calipers. This Mark II is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records from current ownership, manufacturer’s literature, and a Washington title in the owner’s name that lists the vehicle as a 1962 model.
The car was repainted white under previous ownership, and the seller notes evidence of repair to the rocker panels. Equipment includes a Jaguar leaper hood ornament, dual side-view mirrors, chrome bumpers with overriders, and removable rear fender skirts. The seller states that corrosion is present in the left-rear wheel well, paint chips and additional exterior blemishes are visible.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels secured by Jaguar-branded two-eared spinners are mounted with 195/75 Hercules MRX Plus IV whitewall tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs. The brake booster and rear calipers were replaced under current ownership.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in tan leather, with color-coordinated door panels and a wood dash. Features include a locking glovebox, a heater, and an aftermarket push-button radio. Wear is visible on the dashboard, rear passenger trays, and seats.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and an aftermarket leather wrap and fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 90k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six was factory rated at 220 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque. Work performed under current ownership included rebuilding the engine and the starter, repairing the fuel tank and heater lines, and replacing the thermostat, radiator, carburetors, intake manifold, fuel pump, and exhaust components. An eight-page April 2015 receipt from Rusty’s Import Auto Repair of Port Angeles, Washington, totaling nearly $28k is viewable in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The differential was overhauled in 2015. Corrosion is noted on some underbody components.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists serial numbers and factory colors, a manufacture date of March 27, 1961, and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.
The car’s chassis number is P216927DN, whereas the VIN on the title adds a “J62” prefix. The title lists the car’s model year as 1962.
