Ebay item 8/20/13

Current bid $2,050 reserve not met, 4 bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Offered up for auction at a "very low reserve" is this classic 1961 Jaguar 3.8 Liter Mk 2 Automatic "garage find". Chassis number:
P 213623. Body number: S006257. Looks like a "Rolls Royce". Always garaged and covered and recently out of storage. Long term owner passed away and a new home is needed for this vintage Jaguar Sedan. The Jag has seen very little use over the years and was used occasionally for special events. It's an older restoration that has held up nicely over the years. Odometer shows only 50,000 miles and the license plate shows that it was last on the road in 2000. Looking for a good home for this cherished Jaguar.

The 6 cylinder engine runs strong and starts easily with the push of the starter button. As stated, it shows 50,000 original miles. Has new battery and fresh plugs. Brakes are working. Water pump is noisy and radiator is leaking a little bit at an old repair where the upper radiator hose mounts. Charging system is fine with no issues. Steering has a bit of free play and will need some work. Tires very old and will need to be replaced - 1 tire had a tread separation. Exhaust in good condition.

The body is in clean condition and the older restoration/paint has held up well. It is dark grey (anthracite) and black. There are no dents in the body. There are some rust bubbles on the driver's side rear panel above the wheel arch as shown in the picture. The floors are solid which is shown in the pictures as well. Paint finish looks good, but as stated it was painted many years ago. The chrome on the front and rear bumpers are very nice with no pitting. The grill, and other front chrome all very nice as well. The door handles show pitting to the chrome as well as the license plate light chrome and tail lights.

The interior is essentially all original and shows very little wear. The front seats were redone in vinyl and part of the rear seats as well. All of the wood has been well preserved. The door panels and carpet appear to be original and are both in good original condition. There are two small "fold down" tables for the back seat.

As stated, this Jaguar has been garaged stored and covered for many years. It's an older restoration that has held up well. It is recently out of storage and will need the expected maintenance that would be expected for a car that has been in storage. Known issues: Needs tires, water pump/radiator repair. Tachometer & horns not working. Steering has has free play. Needs windshield chrome trim installed (included). Comes with factory jack and spare tire. Has a clear Michigan title. Appears to be all complete.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
