Ebay item 7/21/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1960-Jaguar-Mk2-Very-Early-Model-w-3-8L-NO-RESERVE-/1207 ...
Opening bid $12,500, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction. 73k miles.

Sellers description:
We have had this very early model Mk2 for 5 years and taken it from a non-runner to a soundly running car with most mechanical systems rebuilt. Many of the cosmetic items, but not all, have been dealt with. Our investment exceeds $25,000.00. The car is insured for that amount. We are JCNA members and have shown the car locally.

The items done to the car:
GM 700R4 Auto Transmission conversion
Willwood 3 pot caliper conversion on front brakes
SS exhaust system
Front calipers rebuilt and installed on rear discs
New master cylinder and servo booster
Rebuilt front suspension
New OSJI carpet set and pads black in color
Revamped door cards sprayed to match interior color
Electronic ignition with new Pertronix distributor
40000V coil
5 New Vredestein Sport Classic tires
Silicone plug wires
Rebuilt carbs with solid plastic floats from XK Unlimited
New generator, voltage regulator and battery
Rechromed rear bumper and overriders, some new chrome trim as well
All wood trim re-varnished with re-veenered top rail
New cassette radio
Gas tank cleaned out and sealed with a new SU electronic fuel pump
Power Steering pump rebuilt
New gray trunk mat and black side panels included but not installed
Lots of misc. items as well

Still to do:
Doors have some filled areas blowing out-see photos
There are still some paint flaws-see top of front passenger door where paint is flawed
There are just a few bubbles in the sill area although the body is very sound underneath
original dealer A/C system in trunk is inoperative as there is no compressor
Some electric items such as the horns (new) so not operate
A few pieces of the re-varnished wood trim is delaminating

Note that this is serial number 1217 in the Mk 2 line with the 3.8L engine. The heritage certificate show a 1st quarter 1960 manufacture date and the transmission shifter is on the left side of the wheel-only the first couple hundred automatics had this feature. The car has been in a local JCNA sponsored concours and taken 1st place among Mk 2's with over 90 points.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
