Car to be at auction 9/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/539327
Auction description:
1961 Jaguar MkII 3.8 Automatic
Estimate: £19,000-21,000
Considerable restoration, finishing in 2019; originally supplied by Charles Follett Ltd of London; impressive and very presentable car
Originally sold by well known Jaguar and Jensen specialists Charles Follett Ltd of Mayfair, London, this Mk II is reluctantly being offered for sale by our vendor.
Little is known about the early history of this car, although there are two UK MOTs from 1973 and 1974 on file. We believe it may have been exported at some point after that before returning to the UK in 1994 with the care of its new Essex owner. It is then recorded as staying with this owner until c.2020.
We cannot confirm the exact date, but there is a significant invoice to fully restore the engine (around 2013). This was done by Jaguar specialist, Barry Sheen (not that one…) in South Ockendon, Essex. A complete bare metal respray in old English white also took place.
Many features of this car have been improved in view of modern driving conditions. This included the uprated automatic gearbox, electronic ignition, new and effective brakes, stainless steel exhaust system, power assisted steering, updated electronics, CD player and even electric adjustable/heated seats. The rear bench seat has also been refurbished with the accompanying picnic tables.
There is some expected pitting to some of the brightwork but certainly nothing to worry most people. Overall, this a well sorted good looking saloon, with lots of intelligent updates which has recently passed through an MOT showing no advisories whatsoever - all at a very tempting guide price indicated.
