1967 Jaguar 420 Saloon, left-hand drive, automatic transmission, blue-plate California car and locally owned for the past 35 years. Mechanically, the car is solid and drives well. All electrics seem to function. Exterior is likely a repaint from some time ago. There is a dent on the right front fender and various paint chips other places, but overall, the car looks good. The wheels are wire knock-off style (including the spare). The interior is very nice, with a small crack in the drivers seat and a mark on the glove box door where a placard once was located. There is no evidence of significant rust. The boot looks clean and the car has large and small tools.

1967 Jaguar 420
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1967 Jaguar 420 saloon. This Jag was a long-term California blue-plate car that appears to be in mostly unrestored condition. It was driven regularly until about a year ago when the owner lost interest and parked it -- after some tune up items and a battery we got it back up and running and have been driving it around town. It is in remarkably rust-free condition for an unrestored Jag of this era -- we have noted a small amount of rust behind the right rear door but the floors and other vulnerable areas looks great. The older repaint (in the correct and attractive opalescent silver grey) shows some flaws with some lifting paint on the trunk lid, a dent and missing paint by the right headlight and various other chips and touch ups. We believe that the seat upholstery and headliner were redone in the past and that the door cards, dash and wood veneers are original. Chrome, trim and glass are in surprisingly good condition.
The 4.2 liter twin-cam 6-cylinder starts easily and the automatic chokes still work properly -- it does leak some oil as expected. Good condition Yokohama tires are mounted on factory wire knock-off wheels -- a matching spare wheel, hammer and jack are included in the trunk. Some service records and the original owners manual are also included. This is a great starting point for some light cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning -- few of these cars have survived so intact and they are lovely to drive.

I saw this car in person in 2019 and talked with the owner. He was a lawyer and bought it from a dealer in Minnesota. The car was an impulse buy after a long term relationship fell apart. He stated that the 420 was painted with a BMW color. My wife was with me and she thought that the car need a complete paint job and rust repaired - dogleg.
