Ebay item 7/1/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-1967-Jaguar-420-Sport-Sedan-Immaculate-Condition- ...
Car has a buy it now price of $24,000 for 7 days. Complete VIN on this car is J67P1F25978BW.

Sellers description:
I am the third owner of this vehicle. I knew the two previous owners. I have owned it for 27 years. This car has been kept 100% original (I have all original Manuals and repair book and parts book)

This vehicle was in restoration for 17 years and was finished January of 2001. I rebuilt the engine, transmission, and torque converter in November of 1984. At that point the engine had 91,125 Miles on it. I have since brought the total mileage to 188,941. This rare vehicle has placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in each of these Concour's D'Elegance: Lafayette, San Lorenzo Valley, Santa Rosa, Hillsborough, and Palo Alto from 1993-2001.

I have lots of extra parts that will come with this vehicle that are very hard to find. including but not limited to: complete set of rubber door seals, visors, door knobs, lots of chrome pieces, extra spoke wheel (deep dish) etc..

Car has a buy it now price of $45,000 for 6 days. Car now said to be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sellers description:
This exceptional Jaguar 420 Sport Sedan is a stunning example of an extremely original black-plate California car in near perfect condition. I acquired it from a very conscientious owner who lavished the car with love and attention, attending to every mechanical need, including a rebuild of the engine, and every mechanical system along the way over 28 years of ownership (at a cost in excess of $75,000). The 420 was made for only 2 years from 1967-68, with production of 10,224 cars (of which only 2629 were LHD), and this car represents one of the finest examples in existence.

There is zero rust anywhere on the car. It received a frame-off paint job of remarkable quality, with receipts of $38,000 for the paint alone and re-chrome of every piece of chrome on the car. The color is a stunning deep “midnight” blue, that almost looks black in low light. Cosmetically, it is very close to perfect. The leather is original, and also in remarkable condition, with one or two areas of small repair, and showing gentle wear, with a very nice patina that tells you that you are in an original car. All carpet is new, of correct type, as well as the headliner. The wood is also in original condition, and while acceptable, could be re-done as the finish shows its age. Upon arrival, my mechanic Terry Lippincott, of Lippincott’s Garage (who exclusively restores vintage Jaguars) went over the car with a fine tooth comb and I spent $12,000 in miscellaneous items to get it up to my standards, including new tires, hand brake repair, rubber components such as engine mounts and suspension bushings & anything needed with the brakes, belts & hoses, electronic ignition, timing, tune-up, change of fluids, and any little item to ensure complete performance and reliability for any trip. Oil pressure: excellent. I had the gas tanks inspected and they were perfectly clean. The exhaust is new and of correct original type.

Since the last owner drove the car sparingly since the restoration (mostly to shows and events), it needed this re-commissioning for the road. Now the car runs as it did when it left the showroom, with the excellent handling that was characteristic of Jaguar, and way ahead of its time. Everything works as it should. With the same 4.2 liter engine as an e-type roadster, it is very capable in modern traffic and will cruise smoothly at 80-90 MPH. When My mechanic saw the car, he said it was without question the nicest 420 he has ever seen. Of the 900 or so cars exported to the US, there are very few that have survived, and you would search a long time to find one in this condition. It is available for 1/2 of the what it would cost to get a car up to this standard.
