Car was at auction in '04.
http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResultsSearch.cfm?AuctionYear=All&LotNum=&From=&To=&Make=jaguar&SortBy=AL&Model=&Sold=All&submitSearch=Search#

Description:
1967 Jaguar 3.8 S Sedan
LOT: 042
Estimate:
$25,000-$35,000 US
Chassis No. P1B78971BW
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $28,600

The current vendor purchased the example presented here in 1999 from the original owner. This example was purchased new in Albuquerque New Mexico in 1967 and had traveled just 92,500 miles in 32 years. When stripped to bare metal, it was discovered that this example was completely rust free.

A complete body-off restoration was performed. The body was chemically stripped to bare metal, then primed and painted with two part PPG epoxy paints. All exterior chrome was replaced or re-plated including the window frames. The underbody was stripped, resealed and undercoated. The interior was completely dismantled and thirty-five pieces of wood were
refinished. The interior was fitted with leather seats, vinyl door panels, a new headliner and carpeting. All materials used are as close to original specifications as possible. All electrical systems and gauges were gone through and either restored or replaced as needed. The engine was rebuilt with performance in mind. The block was bored twenty thousandths and the valves were updated to run smoothly on unleaded gasoline.

Beautifully finished in opalescent maroon and fitted with wonderful leather interior and wood trim this sedan shows very well. Since the mechanical systems have all been meticulously restored it is believed that this example is fit for either concours lawn or the open road.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
