Ebay item 10/26/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-3-8-S-20-Year-Barn-Find_W0QQitemZ120323822419QQcm ...
Opening bid $1,200, no reserve, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
After 20 years of being hidden away, this Cat now makes it's return to the real world. She's a wonderful proud example of what motoring used to be with thick leather seats wooden dash and trim, and timeless classic British styling. They just do not make cars this elegant for the common man anymore.
This car is being sold, as is, where is, with no warranty, implied or expressed. There is no reserve, only a modest starting bid of $1200.00. The last (or first) bidder will win her. Photos are attached of all major components of the car including the under carriage. The car was put away in need of a head gasket. (A head gasket does come with the car) I'm not sure to what degree of preparation was done to put her away but I would think a thorough cleaning of the fuel management system, brakes, and related running gear would be in order.
Just to get a better take on the condition of the engine, a new battery was installed to check if the car would at least turn over. With a little coaxing and several shots of penetrating oil down the through the spark plug openings, she now turns over!
The body shows some paint chipping, clouding (in need of being rubbed out), and minor surface rust after being repainted long ago. As far as rust holes go, and we're talking Ohio here (Rust Belt Central), I see no problem areas. And in my thinking, after 20 years, they would show up in spades!
The leather seats, in my opinion, are in solid shape. I think they could be redyed if you wanted but I'm thinking a solid regimen of Hyde Food would do wonders. The wood dash and trim will require some attention as well.
The trunk is very solid and even has the original jack. The doors open and shut, lock, and the windows roll up and down without any bindng.
I'm thinking this Jag would be an excellent candidate for restoring being that it's the 3.8 S but for modest expense and time she could be brought to life and driven just as she is without all the details of concours finishing. She would be very impressive at the stop light.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
